PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET

THE WINDOW

CHOREOGRAPHY BY DANIELLE ROWE

This ballet was inspired by the audio-essay The Living Room by Diane Weipert. It explores the full arc of a relationship, as seen from the window next door.

The design was comprised of stark shapes of light on the floor; vague references to the architecture of living spaces: rooms, hallways, sidewalks. The dancers were lit from very specific angles to maintain a high contrast of light and shadow. The darkness was specifically crafted as much as the light.
